The first series must have 32 instead of 31. Am I right?

No idea about the second sequence!

is the ans for the 2nd one 4 or 10 raised to 4? seems to be one hell of a question, pulling my hair thinking of that. plzz give out the ans dude, evry1 is not a topper like U!

@Anon: I never got it myself :)
Anyway, thanks to multiple anons not signing their names, have to resort to stricter means :-|

The answer is 4, btw.

Answer to first one: 23
Answer to second one: 4

Smallest positive integer involving nth letter of alphabet (in English).

A first occurs in "thousand" hence first is 10^3

B first occurs in "billion" hence second is 10^9

C first occurs in "octillian" hence third is 10^27

D first occurs in "hundred" hence fourth is 10^2

E first occurs in "one" hence fifth is 10^0

F first occurs in "four" hence sixth is "4"

:)

1st one is easy.

I read someone's answer for the 2nd. 2nd is ridiculous. It is surely NOT one of those problems which you feel sad about if you don't get the answer. Generally question banane ke liye banaya hai.

I agree .. pretty random question. Had come across another random (though much simpler than this) question sometime:
Give one word to describe :
H, I, J, ..., O

Answer to sangram's arbit question:
Water :)

Shantanu said...

@Pratik: Crackmax, if you got it on your own. ^:)^

@Dada: Don't really agree, its a question alright. Other than the fact, that we hardly use the words Octillian etc. I think its a fair qs.
It might not be the most elegant problem but for lateral thinking puzzles, its pretty neat.

@Sangram: These were asked in first yr. vagaire:P

Hell! give up @ 2nd 'series'. The solution depends both on the language, and the counting system. Definitely a junkie whoever came up with this x-(

Try this one:
13, 16, 16, 13, 1, ?
