Life has been a bit less hectic, the past few weeks which get me here. Won't stay long but will share a few quick thoughts!
  1. ET went to B-school to ask people what they thought of women possibly losing their tax benefit. Aren't B-schools the last place where one should be wondering about this? Clearly, tax breaks aren't for women who earn 7-figure salaries.
  2. However, learnt that 2001 census classified housewives in the same bracket as prostitutes / beggars. Nothing could be more appalling! Hope they correct it this time around (though I wonder how they could prostitutes [the normal ones, who are forced into the trade] in the same category as beggars in the first place)
  3. I might be having the best non-corner room view in Mumbai! Can't count my blessings enough each time I see the rain in the distance (and clear foreground) and count seconds before the rain hits coast.

1. No comments!

2. The classification was probably for tax reasons; since prostitution is illegal, they cannot be paying taxes. No moral implications should be derived.

3. "count seconds before the rain hits coast"

So nice! I had seen this phenomenon first at Powai lake with Vivek Shah. It is even more beautiful if you can hear the familiar sound that accompanies the start of a downpour. I hope you have your window open.

Sorry to quibble, but I tend to react when a definition of "normal" comes up. It may not be a profession 'approved' of by many, so to speak, but who're we to say what is "normal" and what is not? And what is the "abnormal" variety of prostitution anyway? Women who choose to get into this profession? Really, who are we to judge?

Love your description of the rain though! :)

@Sudeep: Which is precisely the point. Tax paid / income made is the worst way to calibrate the value of people. That way love and selflessness will die faster than ever

@traveller: The "normal" (definition largely personal) ones I sympathize with. That being said - not sure what is locus standi for judging.

@Both: The rains are truly amazing. Window may / mayn't be open though :(
